Between Bergerac and Sarlat, in Southwest France
4 bedrooms, sleeps 6 to 8 people
The house is very typical of the architecture in this part of the Dordogne and has
every comfort.
It is about 5 minutes
from Siorac-en-Périgord, set in a large garden
where children
can run around freely with spectacular views over the valley.
Siorac is a village on
the Dordogne river with a popular weekly market, a variety
of shops,
restaurants and cafes.
Sarlat, our closest town 25 km away, has a larger
selection
of shops and a lively centre with lovely
Renaissance buildings,
restaurants, good food shops and colourful markets.

This is an area of gentle wooded hills, scattered with walnut groves, orchards
and small farms,
many
of which
you can visit to buy foie gras and duck breasts or
strawberries.
There are endless quiet country lanes,
ideal for cycling that take you
off the
beaten
track through hidden valleys and hamlets.
The wildlife is rich and
varied;
red squirrels,
nightingales, golden orioles and hoopoes, sometimes a
glimpse of deer and on warm
summer evenings, the song of the crickets.

An entrance hall with a downstairs wc, leads into a large living room, comfortably
furnished with
a fireplace,
television and DVD and four windows opening onto the
terrace.
The country kitchen
is fully equipped
with everything necessary and includes a
dishwasher. The dining area of
the kitchen opens onto a terrace
with tables and
parasols.
There is also a washing machine,
ironing facilities, a highchair and cot.

Two of the four bedrooms are on the ground floor and share a luxurious bathroom
with both bath
and shower.
The two upstairs bedrooms each have their own
bathrooms and separate wc.
All the bedrooms have twin beds,
which can be made
into
double beds if preferred. A double garage in the same style as the house has
a variety of
children's games, table tennis and darts.

The Area
Siorac lies on one of the most beautiful stretches of the river and
has
a
canoe
hire base and
places
to spend a day fishing.
There is also a 9 and 18 hole golf course within ten minutes of the house.

Sarlat is a medieval town with cobbled streets, lantern lit at night and with
gabled
houses,
golden limestone buildings and stone fountains. While the shops are
always filled with
regional goodies, the best time to visit is on Saturday, when
the market takes place.
In summer it is filled with fruits and vegetables,
cheeses and flowers, while between
November and March,
shoppers haggle over fat geese, foie gras and truffles.

If you like shopping, flea-markets (brocante) or jazz concerts,
canoeing or
just wandering around
a lovely
riverside town, then you love Bergerac. The jazz concerts,
in summer every Wednesday,
are free.
The shops are small but exquisite, the restaurants
in the old quarter, some of which
have
art exhibitions,
have good menus offering
a choice of local dishes at very reasonable prices.
